Mermaid Coffee Tables

This project was a private commission for 2 pieces of custom furniture. The client provided reference images of similar thematic designs which I used for inspiration of this work. This was a departure from Northwest Coast design.

Carving the final details before the preparation for painting. The wood used in this mermaid is Basswood that has been kiln dried. This type of wood was used for Carousel Animals and other types of wood carvings.

The completed piece with glass top in place. The paint is acrylic pearlescent and was applied in two layers to create an under water, translucent quality.
